February is often one of the coldest months in the Northern Hemisphere, making it challenging to stay consistent with your physical activity, such as a fitness routine. Even those who start strong and motivated in January may find themselves struggling to maintain momentum as winter wears on.
Colder temperatures have been shown to impact physical activity levels. A study published in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health in 2020 found that lower temperatures correlate with reduced physical activity and increased sedentary behavior. Cold air can also tighten muscles and joints and decrease metabolism, increasing the perception of physical effort during exercise and contributing to feelings of sluggishness.
During winter, when we often feel less inclined to move, Reiki can serve as an unexpected tool to help you stay motivated and maintain fitness performance. Although Reiki is often said to activate the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s relaxation response—it can help balance the autonomic nervous system, supporting the body’s natural ability to engage in physical activities when needed.
Here’s how remote Reiki may complement your fitness goals from a nervous system perspective:
Enhancing Nervous System Regulation:
Reiki helps balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting smoother transitions between states of rest and activity. This can support better physical endurance and help maintain energy levels during workouts.
Supporting Muscle Relaxation and Recovery:
Cold weather tends to tighten muscles and joints and decrease metabolism, making exercise more challenging and recovery slower. Reiki encourages muscle relaxation, helping to release tension and support faster post-workout recovery.
Boosting Mental Focus and Emotional Resilience:
A strong mind-body connection is essential for maintaining fitness routines. Reiki calms the nervous system, improving mental focus and helping you stay committed to your goals. It also nurtures emotional resilience, fostering self-compassion and patience when progress feels slow.
I’ve personally found that combining energy healing with fitness practices—such as yoga, running, and my recent favorite, Pilates Reformer—helps maintain alignment between the mind and body, even during the colder months. Scheduling Reiki sessions after workouts can support muscle recovery and a sense of physical lightness.
To help you stay motivated this winter, I’m offering a special Valentine’s Day discounted rate: $80 (regularly $100) for remote Reiki sessions booked by February 14. Whether you’re looking to maintain your fitness routine or simply feel better during the winter season, I’d love to support your journey.
